My actual name is Vinicius de Oliveira but that’s quite hard to pronounce in English so I have shortened it to Vinnie, it just rolls of the tongue a bit better.

I’m 27 years old and I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We moved to Joao Pessoa in the Northeast of Brazil when I was a child as my mother thought it would bring us better quality of life to live somewhere with a more relaxed atmosphere. I now reside in London.

I graduated in Journalism in 2002 but nowadays my main line of work is in Information Technology. I have been working in IT for quite some time... I remember my first experience with MSX (yes, I know I’m old).

Going back in time a bit... I qualified in Electronics in 1995 after attending a Technical college. After that I worked as a technical manager in two well known Brazilian companies; Senac (a Technical College) and Neoline (an Internet Service Provider). My main role was to provide IT support to computer users as well as computer maintenance. (I prefer the computer maintenance :D) I have been involved in Design on a professional level since the start of my Journalism Degree in 1999. At first I was doing mainly web design but one thing led to another and I ended up doing graphic design as well. It’s extremely rewarding to see your artwork published on a website.

You must be asking yourself by now why it is that I studied for a degree in Journalism if my main line of work is in IT and Design. Well the truth is that a great deal of the concept of Journalism is based on Communication and Media and by using this concept and mixing it up with my artwork I have been able to build a working relationship with businesses and computer users. Whilst taking my Journalism degree a few of my colleagues and I created a magazine, Web Magazine, and we worked on it for more than three years. We received several recognition awards including one from the Brazilian Academic Society for Communication in 2000. Shortly after I moved to London I also worked for a magazine called Real Magazine.

So after a few years of experience a friend and I started a project called VisualRevolution.net where we use our knowledge to create Graphic and Web projects. Go on and visit us at: http://www.visualrevolution.net if you would like to check out what it is that we have to offer.

So that’s it about me and my life but feel free to email me if you wish to discuss my work, Journalism, Design, IT, music, cinema, or whatever you feel like :)
